A crack team of CHAOS broadcasters were out in force to support their fellow presenters, Stephan Bolton and Nicola Congdon of the Creature Feature Show, as they celebrated the second birthday of their Pawsitive Pets pet foodbank.

It’s aim? To alleviate pet poverty across Cornwall, working alongside partners like Blue Cross and Pets at Home in Falmouth.

The sun shone on their ‘paw-fect’ event, which showcased local charities including Newquay’s own St Francis Dogs Home – where CHAOS presenter and community journalist Janice Rose adopted her own pet, Ollie the Collie.

Fellow presenter Dom Philbin chatted with Fiona, from St Francis Dogs Home, who explained:
“We’re based in Newquay, and we rehome only in Cornwall, so we can continue supporting dogs and owners with advice and behavioural help for as long as needed.”

Another of the CHAOS cohort, Harley Rowlands, caught up with John Davies from Cornwall Search Dogs, to find out more about their amazing work.

He advised: “We operate 24/7 across Cornwall, helping to find missing pets — and sometimes people — using our highly trained scent discriminatory dogs. We currently have six fully trained search dogs and six more in training.”

There was a real party atmosphere at Pendennis Community Centre for the event, which featured bric-a-brac stalls, raffles and face painting — now officially a compulsory activity for Dom, because it simply isn’t a CHAOS outside broadcast without him transforming into a tiger.

At 1.00 pm on the dot, the much-anticipated dog show kicked off, with Julie Glover, manager at Pets at Home (Falmouth), and a long-time supporter of the Pawsitive Pets pet foodbank, taking on the role of judge.

“It’s fantastic to be able to support local charities like Nicola’s,” she said. “Our pet foundation helps raise vital supplies and funds to keep pets and their families together.”

Cornwall’s four-legged friends and their humans turned out in force. Dogs of every shape, size, colour, and breed were proudly paraded, from a blind dog rehomed from China to a show-stopping Elvis impersonator in a full diamanté jumpsuit.

All the dog show classes were hotly contested but both doggies and their besties were beautifully behaved. Harley’s own dachshund, named Puppy, stole the crowd’s hearts, winning first prize for “Shortest Legs” to huge cheers.

With the CHAOS crew providing lively commentary and chatting with participants, the atmosphere stayed relaxed, waggy, and wonderful.

There was even an attempt to sneak ‘Dom the Tiger’ into the ‘Best in Show’ class but, despite a very thorough inspection, the judge giggled and awarded the prize elsewhere.

With over £400 raised on the day, and promises of more donations to follow, Nicola reflected:
“This will feed many more hungry tummies — thank you, everyone.”

All in all, it was a fabulous event, held in a fabulous venue, with fabulous weather — brilliantly supported by the local community for a truly amazing cause.

And yes — the CHAOS Crew absolutely LOVED IT. See you again next year!
