St Austell Running Club are on their marks to host the Gribbin 10k on the evening of Wednesday, May 28th.
The race is the ninth event in the Cornwall Multi Terrain Race Series and features a single loop course around the Gribbin Peninsula.
This is a multi-terrain race that is not for the faint hearted; with some steep climbs and a challenging terrain that is mixed to include coast path, tarmac, meadow and some steps.
Held with the grateful cooperation of Menabilly Estate, the 10k route starts on the road towards Menabilly at 7.00 pm and finishes at Menabilly House, traversing some incredible scenery along Tywardreath, Fowey and Polkerris.
Menabilly is an historic estate on the south coast of Cornwall and is said to be the inspiration of the iconic novel, ‘Rebecca’, written by Daphne Du Maurier with the race itself taking you across ‘Rebecca’s beach’.
A proportion of the race proceeds will go towards supporting St Austell Foodbank, with donations also being collected on race day to support local families.
So, if you are looking to take an evening stroll on May 28th, please do cheer on the willing participants who will need all your encouragement to tackle the course.
Alternatively, if you would like to take part, get in touch with St Austell Running Club or enter the Gribbin 10k via SiEntries.
