A busy farm shop in mid-Cornwall has reopened after a brief closure to allow for redevelopment enabling the expansion of the business’s café and food and drink offer.

The closure of The Refill Hut which operated next door to family-run Trevithick and Trays Farm Shop and Café at London Apprentice presented the business, which opened in April 2021, with the opportunity to grow.

A larger kitchen, more café seating, and retail space for new products have been added during the two-week closure.

The extra space will allow the farm shop to stock a selection of The Refill Hut’s most popular products including porridge oats, muesli, pasta, rice, fruit and nuts.

Fresh local milk supplied by Trewithen Dairy from a vending machine is another new feature and they will be stocking a range of B Skincare products, made with natural ingredients in Cornwall.

Alison Talen from Trevithick and Trays Farm Shop and Café said: “Sadly, The Refill Hut has closed after nearly four years, but its loss presented us with an unexpected chance to increase our space, particularly by allowing us to expand our kitchen and add more indoor tables to our café so we can accommodate more guests to enjoy our menu of light lunches, hot and cold drinks and delicious cakes and sweet treats.

“We are pleased to be stocking some of The Refill Hut’s most popular products, so their loyal customers can still visit and stock up on these staples, including our new fresh Cornish milk vending machine. We look forward to welcoming everyone along to see the changes.”

Trevithick and Trays Farm Shop and Café is open seven days a week, to find their current opening hours and location visit trevithickandtrays.co.uk.
